Update

Hey welcome back to my bloggg!!!!

Today we’re going to be discussing my thought about our film. As said in an earlier blog my groupmates and I had a discussion due to Nyles’s concern. When he was editing he realized the structure and storyline of our story seemed very unnatural. Our original idea included a montage, dialogue, and a murder which all happened in two minutes. Nyles however realized while editing the ending scenes seemed to be running on a different pace which threw off the cohesiveness of our project.

We initially wanted to include the montage so the audience could see more of our characters personality and create a sense of depth. While editing everything in Nyles realized the Montage is way too long (about a minute) and trying to cut out other scenes to make space for it will only make our film seem rushed. Our film is supposed to be at max 2 minutes and Nyles felt the montage was an unnecessary scene in our film. Personally, I disagree and felt like we should just refilm the montage but since he felt so strongly on the subject, I agreed to delete it as a whole. Additionally in our original plan Jonathan (the main characters boyfriend) was supposed to kill Jasmine outside in broad daylight by her car. Nyles felt the killing would add more to our film if it happened at night which also follows basic thriller conventions. Nyles said “Thrillers, heavily rely on the atmosphere to create a sense of danger and suspense and the best way to properly convey that would be to have a darker environment.” Additionally, he felt building up the suspense to have the murder take place in broad daylight seems more random than shocking. After further discussion I understood his point of view and agreed we should change the location of the killing.

Goodbye thanks for reading!!!
