Improvements

In my last blog we discussed what conventions of our film we needed to improve. In this blog post we will be discussing HOW we will improve these conventions. To recap our biggest issues were the pacing and location of our murder scene. To fix this problem we took out the montage scene and changed the location of our murder. Our murder was originally placed outside but now we’ve officially decided to change the entire last scene and have it take place downstairs. We have two different ideas on how to do this:

1.   1.   Jasmine will go downstairs(which is significantly darker from earlier scenes) and outside to look around for Jonathan after receiving a phone call from him saying he’s outside and ready for their date. She goes outside expecting to see him but is met with an empty driveway. When she comes back inside the house Jonathan will already be there waiting for her behind the door hiding with his knife and dressed in all black. She sits on the couch and calls Jonathan hoping to find out why he isn’t outside then he appears behind her swinging the knife toward her neck.

2.  2.    Jasmine will go downstairs (which is significantly darker from earlier scenes) and outside to look around for Jonathan after receiving a phone call from him saying he’s outside and ready for their date. She goes outside expecting to see him but is met with an empty driveway. When she comes back inside the house Jonathan will already be there waiting for her behind the door hiding with his knife and dressed in all black. She then sits on the couch and calls Jonathan hoping to find out why he isn’t outside. Jonathan jumps out from behind the couch expecting to see her only to find the couch is empty, Jasmine then appears behind him and raises a knife to stab him.

Nyles suggested Jasmine be the killer because Courtney, Jonathan and I believed losing the montage decreased our element of surprise. His suggestion was to trick the reader into thinking her date is the killer when it's really her, so we could incorporate the element of surprise and have suspense built in as well.

That’s all!!! Hope you enjoyed my update.
